Vila Vinteca – The finest of wine

Whether you are an experienced or amateur drinker, Barcelona’s Vila Viniteca is THE PLACE to buy the right wine for you and guarantee that it’s good. How many times do we all stare blankly at the baffling range of riojas in el supermercado, before choosing a mid-priced plonk with a nice looking label? NOT GOOD ENOUGH my fellow boozer, you are WORTH more than that. Hands up who happily eats GM crops and battery hen eggs…. Just what we thought. You should know what you’re buying and enjoy drinking it.

“Why limit yourself to an aperitivo when you can can have a whole bottle?”

Fortunately, the Vila staff are here to patiently walk you through the wines and why not’s of their magnificent selection, and help you pick the right bottle for you. These guys are one of the most important distributors of wine in Europe. With an exclusive representation of over 200 vineyards worldwide, you will find what you seek.

We were looking for a light, lunchtime, celebrating life kinda drink so we picked up a Txakoli; a sparkling white from the Basque country that is hard to come by back home: Delicious! For the wild card we chose a bottle of Manzanilla Pasada under the Vila philosophy of “why limit yourself to an aperitivo when you can can have a whole bottle?” Pairs up dreamily with olives, almonds or simple seafood dishes. For sherry lovers only.

Why else should you come here? They’ve got a slick looking gourmet Delhi with a Pandora’s box worth of culinary treats to go with your wine. You can eat and drink everything in store if you want to stay for a chill. As far as we’re concerned, it’s a great excuse to stock up on goodies and throw a rooftop party in the sunshine.

SBT says dine on: Txakoli, Manzanilla Pasada.
SBT says wine on: Vila Viniteca’s house pan con tomate, cheese boards, anchovies.

Come here if: You love wine or want advice on buying great wine
Don’t come here if: You just want to pick up cheap booze for a house party
