Plaza de la Encarnación – Going up the Setas
Seville’s large white mushroom structure in Plaza Encarnacion is a controversial emblem of the past meeting the extreme future; slap bang in the middle of such an historic city. Some people hate them, some are indifferent and others think that they are one of the many great additions to the quirky spread of architecture, art and pomp that decorate the streets of Sevilla.
A sunset beer up on the ethereal slopes of the shrooms is pretty magical
Having recently opened, the Setas (as they are locally nicknamed) offer spectacular views of the city in an unreal and futuristic landscape that floats in a space-age cloud above the proud and ancient Andalucian streets below.
Whilst we try to avoid the big touristic draws here at Stripped Back, a sunset beer up on the ethereal slopes of the shrooms is pretty magical and the atmosphere is relaxed as people slowly cruise around surveying the world below before descending for their night-time adventures.
The roof top bar sells tapas and beers, or you could just cheat and take some cans of Cruzcampo up with you.
Entry comes in at the extortionately low price of €2.40, so there’s no excuses for not popping up en-route to tapas.
